Borsa Istanbul edges up at open

Best-performing shares from tourism index, up 0.87 pct, while worst performer is information technology, down 1.63 pct

ISTANBUL (AA) – The Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index rose 0.24 percent at open on Wednesday

The benchmark index of Turkey’s sole stock exchange advanced to 88,294.26 points in first minutes of the trading day, up 0.24 percent or 212.06 points from the previous close.

The best-performing shares were from the tourism index, which went up 0.87 percent, while the worst performer at the open was information technology, down 1.63 percent.

On Tuesday the BIST 100 index closed 0.56 percent lower, down 496.10 points to around 88,082.21 points

The U.S. dollar versus the Turkish lira rate was flat at 3.65 at 0700GMT compared to the previous day’s close of 3.649.

Release of macroeconomic data in the U.S. this afternoon as well as Turkey’s November unemployment rate are expected to set the tone in markets.
