Borsa Istanbul goes up in morning session

ANKARA (AA) - The BIST 100 index surged 391.57 points to open at 73,991.27 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark index advanced by 0.53 percent while the banking and holding sector indices increased by 0.63 and 0.44 percent, respectively.

Among the sub-indices, the IT sector increased the most, by 0.89 percent, while the leasing and factoring sector index saw a drop of 0.54 percent.

Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate went down to stand at 3.5270 at 10.00 a.m. (0700 GMT) Tuesday, compared to 3.5345 at Monday's close.
