Borsa Istanbul goes up in opening session

BIST 100 index rises 0.50 percent; US dollar/Turkish lira rate goes down to 3.61

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day with a 110.85-point increase to open at 100,589.08 points on Monday.

On the first transaction day of the week, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.50 percent.

The banking and holding indices rose 0.10 percent and 0.23 percent, respectively.

Among all sectors, the investment trusts was the best performer with a 1.08 percent rise, while the insurance sector index started the day with the biggest decline, falling by 0.33 percent.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate went down to 3.6130 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Monday, compared with 3.6240 at Friday's close.
