Borsa Istanbul reveals new index as number of firms listing in stock market exceeds 500, says head of Turkish stock market

ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye's Borsa Istanbul revealed the BIST 500 index on Friday, the head of stock market announced.

In addition to the benchmark index BIST 100, Borsa Istanbul is launching the BIST 500 index today, Erisah Arican said at a ceremony to mark the stock market's 150th anniversary.

The index will include 500 distinguished companies as the number of firms in the stock market exceeded 500 companies for the first time in history, she explained.

Arican added: "At the point we have reached, it was necessary to crown our stock exchange with an inclusive index and we are realizing it (BIST 500) today."
