Borsa Istanbul, lira down slightly at open

Index was down 0.08 percent after first transactions on Tuesday

ANKARA (AA) - Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index was down slightly to open at 77,773.52 points on Tuesday.

The index was down 61.77 points, or 0.08 percent, totalling 77,773.52 points after the first transactions of the day.

On Monday, despite a positive outlook until the afternoon, the index slipped 0.18 percent to 77,835.29 points at the close as oil prices rose to a one-year high.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate, which was at 3.0675 by the time markets closed at 5.30 p.m. (1430GMT) Monday, hiked 0.3 percent to open at 3.0780 at 9.30 a.m. (0630GMT) Tuesday.

On Tuesday, speeches from U.S. Federal Reserve governors and the German ZEW index are expected to be closely watched by the markets.
