Borsa Istanbul looking down at Friday open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,536.82 points on Friday, down 0.63% or 9.78 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index hit an all-time high on Thursday, closing the day at 1,546.60 points, with a daily trading volume of 31.47 billion Turkish liras ($4.25 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 7.3700 from 7.3820 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT).

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was also down to 8.9500 from 8.9590, while one British pound traded for 10.0800 on Friday versus 10.1080 at Thursday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $55.72 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
