Borsa Istanbul looking down at Friday open

BIST 100 index sheds 20.90 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,477.42 points on Friday, down 1.39% or 20.90 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Thursday at 1,498.32 points, with a daily trading volume of 35.34 billion Turkish liras ($4.78 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 7.3600 from 7.3610 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT).

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also slipped to 8.9100 from 8.9440, while one British pound traded for 10.1000 on Friday, versus 10.0800 at Thursday’s close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $55.20 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
