Borsa Istanbul looking down at weekly open

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,182.45 points on Monday, falling 0.69% or 8.18 points from the previous close.

At the last week's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.64% at 1,190.63 points, with a daily trading volume of some 20.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.6 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.0120 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 7.9640 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 9.4810 from 9.4200, while one British pound traded for 10.4590 Turkish liras, versus 10.4070 at Friday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $41.13 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
