Borsa Istanbul rallying at weekly close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Friday at 7,716.67 points, soaring 3% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 7,545.26 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned 224.73 points from Thursday's close.

The lowest value of the index during the day was 7,407.94, while its daily high was 7,747.64.

The total value of BIST 100 was around 6.3 trillion Turkish liras ($240.1 billion) by market close.

The daily trading volume was 92.6 billion liras ($3.5 billion).

Some 51 stocks gained value, while 49 lost.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,933.95, while Brent crude oil sold for $84.30 per barrel as of 6.10 p.m. local time (1510GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.5490, the euro/lira exchange rate was 28.6310, and the British pound traded at 33.3280 liras.
