Borsa Istanbul stocks up at open

BIST 100 index rises by 0.61 pct compared to Monday's close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index increased 0.61 percent or 614.71 points to open at 101,465.13 points Tuesday.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 0.68 percent to close the day at 100,850.42 points with a daily trading volume of 6.18 billion Turkish liras ($1.13 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate slightly rose to 5.4400 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to Monday's closing rate of 5.4370.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.1280, up from 6.1180 at the last close.

One British pound traded for 7.2000 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.1280 at market close on Monday.

The price of Brent oil was $66.71 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Tuesday.
