BIST 100 opens 0.14 percent higher Tuesday

ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index lost 112.49 points to open at 77,866.96 points on Tuesday morning during its first transactions.
The benchmark index increased by 0.14 percent while the banking and holding sector indices rose by 0.18 and 0.16 percent, respectively.
On the second trading day of the week, among all the sector indices the tourism sector index increased the most, by 0.45 percent.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 3.5420 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630 GMT) on Tuesday, compared with 3.5400 at Monday's close.
Gold held at $1,157.97 an ounce.
The U.S. crude futures rose by 0.54 percent to stand at $54.01 a barrel, while benchmark Brent crude futures slipped by 0.58 percent to reach $57.15.
Turkey's annual inflation rose to 8.53 percent in December, the Turkish Statistics Institute said in a statement on Tuesday.
