Borsa Istanbul up at opening

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's BIST 100 index was up 176.29 points on Wednesday to open at 99,475.96 points, a rise of 0.18 percent.

In addition the banking index was up by 0.18 percent and the holding index rose by 0.11 percent.

Among all sectors, the insurance sector was the best performer with a 1.28 percent increase while the real estate investment company sector started the day with the biggest decline, falling by 0.14 percent.

Turkey's stock exchange benchmark index previously hit 100,000 points for the first time in its history during the morning session on Tuesday, however it ended the day on 99,299.67 points, a decrease of 0.14 percent.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was down to 3.5150 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT).
