Borsa Istanbul up at opening

ANKARA (AA) - Borsa Istanbul's BIST-100 index was up 0.92 percent at the opening of the daily session Tuesday, as major equity markets around the globe have continued to shed value and the Brexit vote continues to reverberate.

The benchmark index increased by 693,96 points to open at 75,855 after it decreased slightly, by 0.30 percent, Tuesday, when the total trading volume was lower, at 4 billion Turkish liras (almost $1.37 billion).

This week, global equity markets are expected to remain potentially turbulent as gloom over Brexit-related uncertainty is likely to persist.

No major Turkish data announcement are expected on Tuesday. However the market will watch GDP data for the first quarter of 2016 and consumer confidence data from the world's largest economy, the U.S.

European markets are also expected to open positively.
