Borsa Istanbul up at Tuesday open

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,445.42 points on Tuesday, up 0.43% or 6.13 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed at 1,439.29 points, rising 0.93% on Monday with a daily trading volume of 25.3 billion Turkish liras (nearly $3.4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.4580 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), up from 7.4480 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 9.1310 from 9.0940, while one British pound traded for 10.0610 Turkish liras, down from 10.0670.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $51.12 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
