Bosnia and Herzegovina optimistic about EU accession talks despite potential hurdles
Croatian Member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency acknowledges EU members states could block decision
By Ahmet Nurdullah
ANTALYA (AA) - Croatian member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency, Zeljko Komsic, expressed optimism Friday on his country's initiation of accession talks with the EU.
Komsic, along with the Serbian Member of the Presidency Council, Zeljka Cvijanovic, and Denis Becirovic, the Bosniak member, participated in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) and spoke at the ADF Leaders Talks panel that was held in Türkiye.
Komsic said he is "optimistic" about the start of Bosnia and Herzegovina's negotiations for EU accession.
"I believe that there will be an agreement that will lead to the positive decision to start negotiations," he said.
While acknowledging that Bosnia and Herzegovina has done its part, Komsic stressed that EU member states may still block the decision which would be the "worst-case scenario" for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Expressing his belief that they have met the EU's criteria, Komsic said negotiations should begin this month and it is the right time for his country.
