Bosnian mayor files complaint against Israeli businessman over alleged harassment

‘The attacks became more brutal when I publicly condemned the killing of innocent civilians in Palestine,’ says mayor of Sarajevo

BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - The mayor of Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital, Sarajevo, has filed a criminal complaint against an Israeli businessman after enduring months of harassment for refusing to comply with his requests and for condemning Israel's attacks on Gaza.

Benjamina Karic filed the complaint with the Federal Police Administration against Amir Gross Kabiri, the president of the Abraham Group and executive director of Aluminij Mostar.

''I became the target of this man the moment I refused to allow the plaque on the City Hall to be covered for the purpose of celebrating the State of Israel Day, and (for refusing to respond) to several other requests that I considered provocative,'' said Karic.

According to her statement, she has become the victim of almost daily harassment by Kabiri.

''The attacks became more brutal when I publicly condemned the killing of innocent civilians in Palestine, but also the killing of innocent civilians in Israel,'' said Karic.

Karic said Kabiri sent her photos of murdered children through social networks and accused her of supporting the Palestinian group Hamas.

Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks in the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.

The Palestinian death toll from Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has soared to 14,854, the government media office in the blockaded enclave said Thursday.

The victims include 6,150 children and over 4,000 women, while more than 36,000 people have been injured, it said.

Around 7,000 people remain unaccounted for, including more than 4,700 children, it added.

The Israeli death toll, meanwhile, is around 1,200, according to official figures.
