ISTANBUL (AA) - The 12th Bosphorus Film Festival, set to bring award-winning films to cinema enthusiasts, will take place between Oct. 18-25 in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul.

Anadolu will serve as the global communication partner for the festival, organized by the Bosphorus Culture and Arts Foundation.

This year, 11 films will compete for the prestigious Golden Dolphin Award. Among them is Family Therapy, which won the Arthouse Cinema Award in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Shepherds, a film about a young advertising executive, will have its European premiere at the festival. It previously won Best Canadian Film in Toronto.

Another highly anticipated entry is The Time It Takes, an award-winner at the Venice Film Festival, which will make its Turkish debut. Produced by acclaimed director Marco Bellocchio, the film tells the story of a father working in the film industry and his relationship with his daughter.

Other festival highlights include The Major Tones, which received the Special Jury Prize in Seattle, and March to May, which earned a special mention at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

Shambhala, featured at both the Berlin and Locarno festivals, and Through Rocks and Clouds, winner of Berlin's Generation Kplus Grand Prix, are also set for their Turkish premieres.

Additionally, Vechnaya zima (Eternal Winter), written and directed by Nikolay Larionov and starring Aleksandr Robak, will premiere in Türkiye.

Electric Child, directed by Simon Jaquemet, which explores a story that blurs the line between contemporary reality and dystopia, will have its Turkish premiere as well.

January 2, written and directed by Zsofia Szilagyi, will premiere in Türkiye after its screening at the Venice Film Festival.

The festival will also host the European premiere of Summer Time, a multiple award-winner at Iran’s Fajr International Film Festival.

Supported by Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the event is sponsored by Turkcell and Turkish Airlines, with Turkmedya as its primary media partner.
