Brazilian Embassy in Ankara celebrates National Day

Turkish trade minister highlights Brazil as key gateway to South America, stating commitment to enhancing economic ties

Turkish Minister of Trade Omer Bolat emphasized the importance of Brazil as Türkiye's largest trade partner in Latin America and the Caribbean at a reception Thursday in the Turkish capital to mark Brazil's National Day.

The reception, hosted by Ambassador Carlos Martins Ceglia, began with the national anthems of Brazil and Türkiye performed by the Turkish Land Forces Band Command before Bolat highlighted the deep and lasting friendship between Türkiye and Brazil. He expressed gratitude to Ceglia for his efforts in strengthening the close and productive cooperation between the two nations.

Bolat noted that Türkiye views Brazil as a key gateway to South America and is committed to enhancing economic ties.

He acknowledged Brazil's significant progress in economic and trade sectors, and underscored that Türkiye and Brazil have become leading developing nations, overcoming challenges and making substantial contributions to global politics and the economy.

Ceglia expressed gratitude to Turkish officials in attendance and highlighted the friendly and promising nature of relations between Brazil and Türkiye, noting that Brazilian companies continue to invest in Türkiye.

He emphasized Türkiye's growing appeal to Brazilian tourists, noting that there are 11 weekly flights between Istanbul and Sao Paulo, with plans to increase the number. He noted the popularity of Turkish culture in Brazil, pointing out that Brazilian artists, writers and musicians participate in festivals and seminars in Türkiye.

Additionally, Ceglia reminded the audience that Brazil has taken on the G20 presidency, with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva aiming to foster global unity in the fight against poverty and hunger.
