Brazil's unemployment rate falls to 8% in April-June period
Number of employed people rises 1.1% to 98.9M

ISTANBUL (AA) - Brazil's unemployment rate declined to 8% during the April-June period this year, according to data released Friday by the Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The figure is a 0.8 percentage point decrease from the preceding three-month period of January-March when it stood at 8.8%.
It is also a decline of 1.3 percentage points compared to the same period of last year when it was recorded as 9.3%.
In the April-June period of this year, the unemployed population stood at 8.6 million, falling 8.3%, or 785,000, from the previous quarter.
On an annual basis, the figure dropped 14.2%, or 1.4 million, from the same period of the previous year.
The number of employed people increased to 98.9 million, a gain of 1.1%, or 1.1 million people, compared to the previous quarter, and an increase of 0.7%, or 641,000, compared to the same quarter of 2022.
