BRICS expansion will make bloc 'stronger, more effective': Indian premier

ISTANBUL (AA) – The expansion of the BRICS economic bloc will make the group "stronger and more effective," the Indian prime minister said on Thursday.

"On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of BRICS, we have taken the decision to expand this forum," Modi wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "India has always fully supported this expansion. Such an expansion will make BRICS stronger and more effective."

He said India welcomes Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates into BRICS, a bloc that included Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa before expansion.
