LONDON/ISTANBUL (AA) — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Saturday met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in London ahead of a summit on Ukraine.
The meeting took place at the Prime Minister's Office on 10 Downing Street.
Zelenskyy will attend a summit on Ukraine to be hosted by Starmer on Sunday with the participation of many European leaders.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will also attend the summit on behalf of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In addition to Starmer, the Ukrainian leader is also expected to meet with King Charles during his visit to the UK. The meeting will take place at the request of the British government.
Zelenskyy’s visit to the UK came a day after a heated exchange with US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance at the Oval Office.
During the exchange, Trump criticized the Ukrainian leader's attitude, while Zelenskyy expressed his expectation of support for his country.
After the heated debate, Trump argued on his Truth Social account that Zelensky was not yet ready for peace.
In an interview with Fox News, Zelenskyy responded to a question whether he would apologize to Trump, saying that he had done nothing wrong that would require him to apologize.
