BERLIN (AA) - The building which houses the visa office of the German embassy in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv was hit by Russian missiles, a German Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Monday.
The tower which houses the visa section was "apparently damaged," Christian Wagner told a news conference in Berlin.
However, the visa section was no longer operational, so there were no employees present during the attack, he added.
Meanwhile, government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said Germany condemns the Russian strikes "in the strongest possible terms."
He said Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the phone earlier in the day, assuring the solidarity of Germany and other G7 states.
The leaders of the G7 states will hold a video call with Zelenskyy on Tuesday, Hebestreit said.
He underlined that Germany would do “everything possible” to mobilize additional aid for Ukraine and to help repair the damaged infrastructure.
