Bulgaria slams Russian envoy over ‘disinformation’ on support to Ukraine
Russian ambassador to Sofia said Bulgaria will be sending troops to Ukraine

ATHENS (AA) – Bulgaria on Tuesday slammed the Russian ambassador to Sofia for spreading "disinformation" on the support to Ukraine for the ongoing war against Russia.
“The support which Bulgaria provides to Ukraine is in compliance with the laws and rules and any attempts at propaganda and disinformation which compromise democratic values are unacceptable," the country's Foreign Ministry said.
"We are consistent in our solidarity with the people of Ukraine and our unconditional support for its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders including territorial waters,” it added.
Russian Ambassador Eleonora Mitrofanova said in a social media post that Bulgaria will be sending military troops to Ukraine, a claim repeatedly denied by the Bulgarian government.
Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev said last Sunday the county will continue to support Ukraine, but will not deploy troops.
