ATHENS (AA) — Bulgaria's renowned Sofia Opera is scheduled to perform in Türkiye, South Korea, and Germany at the beginning of the new state season of 2023-2024, local media reported on Wednesday.
Bulgaria's state-run news agency BTA said the opera will perform for a Turkish audience in early November, days after Türkiye celebrates the centenary of its foundation as a republic on Oct. 29, 1923 and a time that roughly coincides with the 85th year since the death of its founding father, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
The opera will stage Tosca by Giacomo Puccini, a famous Italian opera composer, in Türkiye, BTA added.
It will also perform in Germany in late September and early October and then in South Korea, before heading to Türkiye.
BTA Director General Kiril Valchev pointed out that some of the destinations on the opera's tour are countries whose national news agencies have close ties with their Bulgarian counterpart.
