ISTANBUL (AA) - Canada's industrial product price index (IPPI) fell 0.6% in September, compared to the previous month, according to official figures.
While the market expectation for the figure was to show a monthly decline of 0.4%, it followed a month-on-month decrease of 0.8% in August.
Excluding energy and petroleum products, IPPI rose 0.2%, Statistics Canada said Tuesday in a statement.
Prices for energy and petroleum products plummeted 6.5%, it added.
"Lower prices were widespread among refined petroleum energy products, particularly finished motor gasoline and diesel fuel," said the statement.
On an annual basis, meanwhile, IPPI decreased 0.9% in September from the same month of last year, marking the first annual decrease since March.
This followed an annual increase of 0.2% recorded in August.
