Canada's manufacturing sales jump 4.1% in January
Motor vehicles sales rise for 3rd straight month, up 13.4% to $4.8 billion -- highest since July 2020

ISTANBUL (AA) - Canada's manufacturing sales jumped 4.1% in January, according to figures Tuesday by Statistics Canada.
The figure was above expectations of a 3.9% increase, while manufacturing sales declined 2.1% in December.
Petroleum and coal products led the increases with 10.1% gain, followed by motor vehicle and food industries expanding 13.4% and 3.4%, respectively.
"Following two consecutive monthly declines, sales in the petroleum and coal product industry increased 10.1% to $10.3 billion in January," Statistics Canada said in a statement.
The gains were offset by a 11.2% decrease in aerospace products, followed by wood and chemical industries with 4.9% and 2.8% declines, respectively.
"Sales of motor vehicles increased for the third consecutive month, up 13.4% to $4.8 billion in January 2023, the highest level since July 2020," said the agency.
