Reaction comes in wake of newly inaugurated US Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from pact

ISTANBUL (AA) – China on Tuesday expressed “concern” over the US move to withdraw from the Paris Agreement on climate, state media reported.
The Foreign Ministry’s reaction came in the wake of newly inaugurated Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the pact, which enshrines the UN’s climate objectives.
Soon after his inauguration on Monday, Trump signed an executive order to withdraw the US from the Paris climate agreement.
He also signed an executive order to withdraw the US from the World Health Organization.
The ministry added that China will "continue to support WHO in fulfilling its duties."
Trump originally withdrew the US from the climate agreement in 2019.
Former President Joe Biden quickly re-entered the accord on his first day in office.
Trump was sworn in on Monday to begin his second non-consecutive term.
Notably, the US and China had held various rounds of bilateral talks on climate change under the previous Biden administration.
