ISTANBUL (AA) - In China, the stagnation in consumer prices and the decline in producer prices continued in 2025, according to data released on Friday.
China's consumer price index (CPI) remained stable year-on-year in 2025, while the producer price index (PPI) declined 2.6%, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics.
Consumer prices, considered a key indicator of inflation, showed no year-on-year increase in 2025, while producer prices continued their decline from the last two years.
In December 2025, the CPI increased 0.8% compared to the same month of 2024, while the PPI decreased 1.9%.
The stagnation in consumer prices and the continued decline in producer prices created a deflationary trend throughout the year.
Meanwhile, the core inflation, excluding food and energy prices, increased 1.2% year-on-year.
Food prices, which rose 0.2% in November, also increased by 1.1% in December. The CPI, considered a key indicator of inflation, has been below 1% in China since March 2023.
Meanwhile, the decline in producer prices recorded since October 2022 continued in December. The Producer Price Index (PPI), calculated by taking into account the ex-factory prices of manufactured goods, decreased 1.9% on an annual basis.
