ISTANBUL (AA) - China began four days of live-fire drills Tuesday in the disputed South China Sea, according to a statement from the Zhanjiang Maritime Safety Administration.
The drills will take place throughout each day in designated areas, it said, warning that entry into certain waters would be restricted for the duration of the exercises.
“During this period, the relevant waters are off-limits,” it said, according to the Defense Ministry-linked China Military website.
The drills come as the US and the Philippines conduct annual military exercises in the same region.
