China launches Egypt's remote-sensing satellite into space

ISTANBUL (AA) - China on Monday helped Egypt send a remote-sensing satellite into orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China.

The satellite MISRSAT-2 was launched using a Long March-2C carrier rocket at 12:10 p.m. local time (0410GMT), according to China’s State Council.

Its purpose is to contribute to various applications in Egypt, including land and resource utilization, water conservancy, and agriculture, the State Council added.

China and Egypt's collaboration on the MISRSAT-2 represents a significant achievement in aerospace high-tech cooperation.

“The MISRSAT-2 is a landmark project of deep cooperation between China and Egypt in the field of aerospace high-tech, and is of milestone significance in aerospace cooperation between the two countries,” according to the China National Space Administration.

This launch marked the 499th flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series.

Meanwhile, remote sensing satellites Starpool 02-A and Starpool 02-B were also sent into space.
