China launches its 1st medium earth orbit communication satellite

Identified as Smart SkyNet-1 01, Long March-3B rocket carried satellite from Xichang Satellite Launch Center

ISTANBUL (AA) - China on Thursday launched into space the country’s first medium earth orbit communication satellite, state media reported.

Identified as Smart SkyNet-1 01, Long March-3B rocket carried the satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the southwestern Sichuan province.

It was the 521st flight mission of the home-built Long March carrier rocket series.
