ISTANBUL (AA) – China on Tuesday successfully launched the Long March-6 carrier rocket, taking an experimental satellite into its intended orbit.
The rocket, carrying a new experimental satellite, known as Shiyan-25, was launched from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, in the north province of Shanxi at 11:18 a.m. (0318GMT), China’s broadcaster CGTN reported.
Shiyan-25’s primary purpose is to conduct experiments focused on new Earth observation technologies.
These experiments will specifically cover areas such as land resource surveys, urban planning, and disaster prevention and mitigation.
The recent launch mission was China's 25th rocket launch in the current year.
The launch also marked the 477th flight of the Long March rocket family and the 11th mission specifically involving the Long March 6 model.
China on Thursday also launched into space its biggest constellations of satellites aboard a single rocket, which will be used for commercial remote sensing services and verification of related technologies.
