China reiterates opposition to using force in resolving international disputes

ISTANBUL (AA) - China on Thursday reiterated Beijing's opposition to the use of force in resolving international disputes.

"Force is not the right way to solve international disputes. It only brings more hostility and tension. Humanity cannot return to the law of the jungle, where the strong bully the weak," Vice President Han Zheng Han said in his opening speech to the 13th World Peace Forum in Beijing, according to a video by Shanghai Eye News.

"Still less can we allow hegemonism and the me-first approach to get its way. Facing a world with changes and turbulence, all sides must shoulder the responsibilities to firmly uphold the authority of the UN, defend the UN-centered international system, the international order based on international law," added Han.

He said that problems of economic globalization "can only be solved through further development of globalization."

The vice president put forward four proposals, according to the Xinhua News, including protecting the international order, fairness and justice; showing solidarity and cooperation; being open and cooperating to drive global prosperity; and jointly advancing toward modernization.

Around 400 people attended the meeting.
