ISTANBUL (AA) – China on Monday announced a high-level summit with the EU to be held on Thursday.
Hua Chunying, spokeswoman for China’s Foreign Ministry, said the 24th China-EU summit will be held in Beijing.
China’s President Xi Jinping will meet with European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Hua said in a statement.
This will be the first in-person China-EU summit since 2019.
She said China’s Premier Li Qiang, along with Michel and Leyen, will jointly chair the summit.
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell will also attend the summit.
The two sides are expected to deliberate on EU-China relations and international issues, including the Russia-Ukraine war and the war in Gaza.
China-EU summit comes when the 27-member bloc has launched probe into electric vehicle imports from the world’s second-largest economy.
