China’s 1st unmanned drone carrying 1-ton load completes maiden flight

TP1000 has maximum takeoff weight of 3.3 tons, can transport up to 1-ton over a range of up to 1,000 kilometers

ISTANBUL (AA) – China's first large unmanned drone, capable of carrying a total of a one-ton load, completed its maiden flight in East China on Saturday, according to media reports.

The first flight, which lasted 26 minutes, in the Shandong Province was reportedly stable.

The TP1000 has a maximum takeoff weight of 3.3 tons and can transport up to a 1-ton payload up to 1,000 kilometers (621 miles), reported Global Times.

This unmanned transport aircraft also has an advanced airdrop system for emergency relief missions.

The drone has additional features such as quick loading and unloading of standard pallets, fast ground transport connections, and long-distance transport capabilities.

It is expected to begin its commercial operations by 2026.
