UNESCO chief Audrey Azoulay praises Beijing's support for UNESCO

ISTANBUL (AA) – Chinese President Xi Jinping held a meeting Thursday with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay in Beijing.
Xi emphasized China's consistent support for UNESCO and their joint efforts in preserving global peace and advancing development, Xinhua reported.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining cooperation and said China was committed to enhancing heritage protection, fostering intercultural exchanges, contributing to world peace, and the shared future of humanity.
Xi also said that China's goal of becoming a modern socialist nation by mid-century, focusing on science, education, technology, and culture.
He underlined the significance of international collaboration, including with UNESCO, in achieving this goal.
For her part, Azoulay praised China's support for UNESCO and its role promoting girls' and women's education globally.
She hailed the existing level of cooperation, voiced hope to strengthen collaboration in cultural heritage preservation, science, culture, and technology to further international consensus and promote global peace and development.
