Chinese investigators claimed to have identified US National Security Agency personnel allegedly involved in last year’s cyberattack on a leading Chinese aviation university, state-run media reported on Thursday.
"With the concerted efforts of industry partners from multiple countries, our joint investigation has achieved a breakthrough. The true identity of the NSA (National Security Agency) staff who launched the cyberattack on the Northwestern Polytechnical University has been successfully identified," Du Zhenhua, a senior engineer at the National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center (CVERC), told state-run China Media Group.
Known for its faculty's research in aviation, aerospace, and navigation, NPU in June 2022 reported that it had been subjected to a cyberattack from abroad.
In September last year, Beijing accused the US spy agency of launching a cyberattack on NPU.
