Chinese, Russian special envoys meet Afghan officials in Kabul

2 envoys discuss bilateral relations, trade with Afghan interim ministers

ANKARA (AA) – Special envoys of China and Russia met on Wednesday with the Afghan interim officials in Kabul to discuss bilateral relations and trade.

Russian Special Envoy for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov met with Kabul’s interim top diplomat Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries, said Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi in a post on X.

The two leaders also discussed ways to improve bilateral trade and the presence of the Afghan interim government in regional and international cooperation mechanisms.

On Monday, China's Charge'd'Affaires Zhao Haihan met with acting Defense Minister Mawlavi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid.

During the discussion, Mujahid emphasized on “positive” relations and cooperation with China, which “is growing stronger by each passing day, particularly with the return of the Islamic Emirate.”

Zhao Haihan expressed optimism about the establishment of complete security and stability in Afghanistan and emphasized China's continued assistance and cooperation with the people of Afghanistan in economic and commercial fields, Balkhi said in a separate statement.

Kabul sent its envoy to Beijing last month.
