ISTANBUL (AA) - Quentin Griffiths, a co-founder of online fashion retailer ASOS, was confirmed dead by Thai police Friday after falling from the 17th floor of a condominium in the eastern seaside city of Pattaya, according to the Bangkok Post.

The 58-year-old Brit was discovered by rescue workers on the ground after he fell from the balcony.

Authorities reported no signs of disturbance inside the room.

A police investigator said Griffiths was alone and the room was locked from the inside, according to the BBC. There was no sign of a break-in at the time of his death, and an autopsy found no evidence of foul play.

Griffiths had two ongoing court cases that may have caused him stress, police told the BBC. He was reportedly involved in a legal dispute with his Thai former wife about a business they had run together.

He co-founded Asos in 2000 in London with Nick Robertson, Andrew Regan and Deborah Thorpe. He was a significant shareholder even after leaving the company five years later.

He moved to Thailand around 2007 following his divorce from his first wife. He later married a Thai national, and the couple had two children together.

A spokesperson for ASOS offered condolences, while a British Foreign Office spokesperson said it was in contact with local authorities about Griffiths' death.

"He played an important role in Asos's earliest days and we're forever grateful for his contribution," said the spokesperson.
