Coronavirus cases, deaths climb in Eurasia, C. Asia

BAKU (AA) - Health officials in Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, and Georgia reported on Sunday new coronavirus cases, virus-linked deaths and recoveries.

- Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan registered 1,494 new virus cases, taking the tally to 81,720. The number of recoveries rose by 563 to reach 51,823.

A total of 610 people have lost their lives thus far.

- Ukraine

Ukrainian Health Minister Maksim Stepanov said a total of 920 people tested positive over the last 24 hours, bringing the tally to 64,849.

Stepanov said the number of recoveries hit 35,807 with 310 additions, while the death toll rose to 1,605 with 15 more fatalities.

- Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan registered 689 more cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 32,813.

Deaths from COVID-19 and pneumonia rose to 1,277 with 28 additions.

A total of 20,388 people have recovered since March 18.

- Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan recorded 471 more cases, bringing the tally to 20,226. The disease claimed three more lives, and the death toll rose to 112.

The number of recoveries reached 10,831 with 359 additions.

The former Soviet republic has imposed strict quarantine rules, and all vehicle mobility is prohibited during the weekends.

It adopted restrictions again on July 10 as the country experienced rising number of cases after easing measures on June 15.

- Armenia

Armenia announced 321 more virus cases, bringing the tally to 37,317.

Five more people died of the virus, and the death toll reached 705.

While 26,478 people have recovered from the disease, health officials have conducted over 157,150 tests so far.

- Georgia

As many as 14 more people tested positive in Georgia. With the latest additions, the number of cases reached 1,172, including 16 deaths and 9,120 recoveries.
