Coronavirus cases, deaths on rise in Eurasian countries
Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia report fresh cases

BAKU (AA) - Coronavirus cases and fatalities continued to rise across Eurasia on Friday.
- Kazakhstan
In Kazakhstan, the number of cases rose by 245, bringing the total to 12,312.
Four people have died in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 52. So far, over 6,600 people have recovered.
- Uzbekistan
In Uzbekistan, 56 more people contracted the virus, raising the tally to 3,965.
Sixteen people have died to date and 3,087 have recovered.
The country has also carried out 600,000 coronavirus tests so far.
- Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan reported 37 new cases, bringing the country’s total to 1,936. The number of recoveries reached 1,340.
Two people have died in the last 24 hours, bringing death toll to 22. A total of 574 people are still under treatment at hospitals.
- Georgia
Georgia reported four new cases, bringing the case-count to 808.
So far, 13 people have died and 650 people recovered.
- Worldwide
Over 6.65 million cases have been reported in 188 countries and regions since the virus emerged in China last December.
The US, Brazil, and Russia are currently the hardest-hit countries in the world.
The pandemic has claimed over 391,400 lives worldwide, while recoveries are now over 2.88 million, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
