Coronavirus cases in Southeast Asia top 200,000
At least 4,336 new cases confirmed, 105 people die over past 24 hours

JAKARTA (AA) - The total number of coronavirus cases in Southeast Asian countries has reached 203,077 as of Thursday, including 5,732 fatalities and 117,320 recoveries.
The latest figures showed 4,336 new cases and 105 fatalities over the last 24 hours, with most cases reported in Indonesia and the Philippines.
Indonesia, the worst-hit country among member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, reported 1,574 new infections, bringing the country’s total to 81,668.
The death toll in Indonesia rose to 3,873, with 76 more fatalities, while recoveries increased to 40,345.
In the Philippines, the number of cases soared to 61,266, after the country reported 2,498 new cases over the past day.
Since coronavirus emerged in the country five months ago, at least 1,643 people have died in the country, while 21,440 people have recovered.
Addressing the nation late Wednesday, President Rodrigo Duterte announced new community quarantine status for the next two weeks.
Thailand confirmed four new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 3,236.
The tally of recoveries in the country has reached 3,095, while the death toll stands at 58.
Singapore has recorded 248 new cases, taking the count to 47,126.
In Malaysia, three more cases pushed the country’s total to 8,737.
The recoveries in the country reached 8,538 after 12 more patients were discharged from hospitals, while the death toll remains at 122.
Cambodia confirmed one new case of the virus, bringing the tally to 166.
Meanwhile, there have been no reports of new infections or fatalities in Vietnam, Brunei Darussalam, Laos and Myanmar.
