Brazil remains country most affected by outbreak in Latin America, while COVID-19 deaths on rise in Peru, Ecuador

BUENOS AIRES, Brazil/ANKARA (AA) - The novel coronavirus outbreak continues to claim lives in Latin America on Thursday.
In Brazil, some 435 people died over the past 24 hours due to the pandemic, according to the country's Health Ministry.
The ministry announced that the number of people who died due to COVID-19 reached 5,901, while the number of infected people climbed by 7,218 to reach 85,218.
Meanwhile, 35,935 people have recovered from the virus in the South American country having a population of nearly 210 million.
The death cause of 1,539 people is being investigated, added the ministerial statement.
Brazil remains the country most affected by outbreak in Latin America. The first case of COVID-19 and the virus-related death in the region also occurred first in Brazil.
- Peru
According to the statement made by the country’s Health Ministry, 108 people have died in the country over the past 24 hours due to the virus.
The death toll in Peru from the coronavirus rose to 1,051 on Thursday, and the total number of cases increased by 3,045 to reach 36,976.
The total number of patients recovered from the pandemic in the country reached to 10,405.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 test results of 510 students came in positive after the health screening of 2,707 students at the Peruvian National Police School.
- Ecuador
In Ecuador, 17 more people died due to the coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the tally to 900, according to local media reports.
The total number of cases in the country mounted to 24,934. Over 1,550 people have recovered in the country so far.
