LOME, Togo (AA) - The coronavirus positivity rate in the Ivory Coast has continued to decline since April, government spokesman Amadou Coulibaly said, according to local media reports Thursday.
The rate “continues to decline since April and is less than 2%, like the case fatality rate," said the Ivorian News Agency.
The West African country had 47,933 confirmed cases as of June 16, of which 47,322 people had recovered, with 306 deaths and 305 active cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene.
Togo is continuing a vaccination campaign launched March 1 with 712,777 doses administered, Minister of Health Pierre N'gou DIMBA reported Wednesday.
After receiving and using 729,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, authorities received 100,620 doses of the Pfizer vaccine at the Felix Houphouet Boigny airport late Wednesday.
"The country intends to acquire millions of doses to eventually vaccinate 8 million Ivorians," the Health Ministry said.
By the end of December, the nation would have acquired 7.4 million new doses, said Coulibaly.
