COVID-19 keeps battering Asia-Pacific
Philippines, Bangladesh, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand report new infections, fatalities

ANKARA (AA) - More than 2,400 new coronavirus cases and at least 38 new deaths were reported across Asia-Pacific on Saturday.
- Philippines
Philippines registered 1,406 new cases and five fatalities over the past 24 hours, raising the overall count to 469,005, including 9,067 deaths.
Recoveries increased to 431,055, according to the country’s health minister.
- Bangladesh
Bangladesh’s COVID-19 case tally surged by 839 over the past day, reaching 508,099, according to the Directorate General for Health Services. At least 30 more patients died, moving the toll to 7,428.
- Singapore
A total of ten more COVID-19 cases, which are sourced abroad, have raised Singapore’s overall count to 117,904, according to the Health Ministry.
The new COVID-19 patients were asked to “stay home”.
So far, 58,519 cases have been seen in the country, 29 people have died due to the virus, and 58,302 people infected with the virus have recovered.
- Hong Kong
In the last 24 hours, 59 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, bringing the total number of cases to 8,541.
So far, 136 people have died and 7,394 have recovered from the disease.
- Thailand
Thailand registered 110 new cases and three fatalities over the past day, raising the overall count to 6,020, including a total of 60 deaths.
Recoveries also increased by 4,152, said Thailand Status Management Center.
