Crisis-hit SKorean president leaves fate up to parl't

SEOUL (AA) - South Korean President Park Geun-hye said Tuesday she will allow lawmakers to decide her fate, as she made her third public apology since being hit with an ongoing corruption scandal last month.

Stopping short of an immediate resignation, Park conceded that she would follow steps determined by parliamentary parties at the National Assembly -- where liberal opposition parties hold more seats in combination than the ruling Saenuri Party.

Earlier in the day, the opposition bloc announced their plan to push for an impeachment vote against the president this Friday.

While there are enough rebel Saenuri lawmakers to ensure the two-thirds majority needed to pass the motion, it remains to be seen whether even anti-Park members of the ruling camp would agree with their liberal counterparts on a political transition.
