Cross-border fire intensifies as Israeli army, Hezbollah trade attacks

Israeli fighter jet strikes Hezbollah military building in southern Lebanon, military says

By Zein Khalil

JERUSALEM (AA) – Cross-border clashes between Israel and Hezbollah escalated on Tuesday with both sides continuing to exchange attacks.

The Israeli army reported the launch of 15 rockets from Lebanon into northern Israel, specifically targeting the town of Kiryat Shmona.

“Following the sirens that sounded regarding rocket and missile fire in northern Israel, approximately 15 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon,” the army said in a statement.

The army said it intercepted 10 of these projectiles, with no damages or injuries reported.

The military said a fighter jet targeted a Hezbollah military structure in Yarin in southern Lebanon.

In response, Hezbollah said that it had fired dozens of Katyusha rockets on an Israeli military barracks in Kiryat Shmona. Additionally, the group reported artillery shelling on the Jal al-Alam post in northern Israel.

Tensions have soared along Lebanon's border with Israel amid cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv pressed ahead with its deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 37,900 people since Oct. 7 last year.

The Lebanese group has linked the cessation of its attacks on Israel to the end of Tel Aviv’s onslaught on Gaza.
