Cyberattack targets Beirut airport screens, unleashing anti-Hezbollah messages

Logo of radical Christian group 'Soldiers of the Lord' appears on hacked screens

BEIRUT (AA) – A cyberattack targeted Sunday the screens of departures and arrivals at a Beirut airport in Lebanon, state media reported.

The hacked screens at Rafic Hariri airport displayed an anti-Hezbollah content and messages opposing the war in southern Lebanon.

The cyberattack led to the disruption of the passenger baggage inspection system, according to Lebanon's official National News Agency.

The airport authorities applied alternative plans to ensure the normal operation at the airport, the agency added.

Social media users circulated images and videos showing the screens displaying the logo of "Soldiers of the Lord," one of the radical Christian groups in Lebanon.

The messages appearing on the screens included "Rafic Hariri Airport is not Hezbollah and Iran's airport", "Hezbollah, we will not fight on behalf of anyone. The airport must be liberated from the grip of the enclave (Hezbollah)."
