Czech intelligence chief says China, Russia actively involved in disinfo campaigns in country

Russia biggest threat to country, says Michal Koudelka

By Ahmet Gencturk

ATHENS (AA) – The Czech Republic’s intelligence chief said Tuesday that China and Russia are actively engaged in disinformation campaigns in the country, local media reported.

Speaking at a conference on the hybrid threats the country faces, Michal Koudelka, the head of the Security Information Service (BIS), said both countries focus on anti-government propaganda and criticism of the Czech Republic’s support of Ukraine in its war with Russia and its impact on the Czech economy, according to state broadcaster Radio Prague.

Pointing to Russia as the biggest threat to the country, Koudelka said Moscow’s pressure on the country increased particularly in parallel to the Czech Republic’s support for Ukraine.

Against this background, Koudelka said, efforts to counter disinformation pressures have also increased significantly in recent months.
