Czech Republic sends tanks, infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine
Move marks 1st time NATO country has supplied heavy armor to Kyiv, says local media

ANKARA (AA) – The Czech Republic has sent Russian-made T-72 tanks and BVP-1 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine, local media reported Tuesday.
The tanks and vehicles have been loaded onto trains bound for Ukraine, said Czech news outlet Echo24.
It is a gift from the Czech army, which the Czech Republic agreed to with NATO allies, the outlet added.
The Czech Defense Ministry confirmed the shipment without detailing what it included, according to the outlet.
The Russia-Ukraine war, which started on Feb. 24, has drawn international outrage, with the European Union, US and UK, among others, implementing tough financial sanctions on Moscow.
At least 1,480 civilians have been killed in Ukraine and 2,195 injured, according to UN estimates, with the true figure feared to be far higher.
More than 4.24 million Ukrainians have fled to other countries, with millions more internally displaced, according to the UN refugee agency.
